The Carriers
"The Carriers" is an epic fantasy novel. The novel will be very long, and it will be divided into multiple thematic tomes. Each tome is like a separate book in a way. I started formally writing this novel in September 2017, but there were many writing attempts since January 2016. So, it's been eight years that I've been writing and working on this project. There were many changes and many versions, but I've already started writing the definitive version of the first tome. It hasn't been easy to lay out a story so long and with so many aspirations.
From the beginning, I knew I didn't want to write something insignificant; it was always my objective to create a work of art of the highest quality. A work of art that could maintain a high level of thematic professionalism, intellectual prowess, and stylistic greatness, but that also manages to be conventionally entertaining. A novel that could be read and enjoyed by someone who only wanted to read something good and fun, and also by someone who wanted to read something with great academic and philosophical value. You can imagine that trying to invent a story with these characteristics and such a long length isn't an easy thing. And it hasn't been, and it never will be. But the most interesting thing is that I immensely enjoy this duty, with all its difficulties and hardships. It is a highly satisfactory personal challenge, and it fills my soul.
In the next posts, I'll try to explain the novel's structure, its context, and I will also tell you a little about me. Although I do think that "the death of the author" has some interesting theoretical achievements, I firmly believe that reading a book while taking into account the context in which it was created, and the way it was written, is one of the most relevant and insightful tasks we could ever do. Literature is a fundamental part of the culture of civilizations, and I consider that trying to isolate a literary work from its context diminishes its value.
So, I try to explain with as much detail as possible the context behind this written work, my intentions and ambitions, and why it was written because I think that is key to enriching the experience of readers.
I plan to publish it myself, probably through Amazon Kindle, or independently, so I'm not creatively limited by anything or anyone. Although I would love for the novel to be a successful and renowned project, my only commitment is its artistic integrity and the pleasure that writing gives me. Nothing more, nothing less.
Los Portadores
«Los Portadores» es una novela de fantasía épica. La novela será muy larga, y estará dividida en múltiples tomos temáticos, y se podría decir que cada «tomo» es un libro en sí mismo.
Empecé a escribir esta novela formalmente en septiembre del año 2017, pero se podría decir que ya hubo intentos de escribirla desde enero del año 2016. Es decir, hace 8 años prácticamente que estoy escribiendo y trabajando en este proyecto. Han habido muchos cambios en la misma, y muchas versiones, pero ya he comenzado a escribir la versión definitiva del primer tomo de la novela.
No ha sido fácil diagramar una historia tan larga, y con tantas aspiraciones. Desde el principio supe que no quería escribir algo insignificante o insustancial, siempre mi objetivo fue crear una obra de arte de máxima calidad, la cual pudiera mantener un alto nivel de profesionalismo temático, estilístico e intelectual pero que a su vez también logre ser convencionalmente entretenido. Una novela que pueda ser leída y apreciada tanto por alguien que sólo busca leer algo entretenido y divertido, como por alguien que quiera leer un escrito de gran valor académico y filosófico. Pueden imaginarse que inventar una historia con estas características y con un tamaño tan grande no es tarea sencilla. Y no lo ha sido, y nunca dejará de serlo. Pero lo más interesante de todo esto es que yo disfruto inmensamente esta tarea, con todas sus dificultades y problemáticas, es un desafío personal altamente satisfactorio y el cual me llena el alma.
A través de las próximas entradas de esta página web o blog, intentaré explicarles la estructura de la novela, su contexto, y también les contaré un poco sobre mí, el autor de la misma. Creo que si bien la "muerte del autor" puede tener sus rasgos interesantes como concepto teórico, tomar una obra considerando su contexto, su razón de ser, y la forma en la que fue elaborada, es el punto más interesante y lleno de entendimiento al cual podemos llegar cuando se trata de estudiar literatura. La literatura es una parte fundamental de la cultura de las civilizaciones, y considero que intentar aislar una obra de la misma trae consigo una disminución importante del valor de sus palabras.
En fin, voy a relatar con la mayor cantidad de detalle el contexto en el cual nace esta obra, mis intenciones y ambiciones, y el fin por el cual ha sido escrita, porque creo que ésto es clave para lograr enriquecer la experiencia de su futura publicación.
La pienso publicar yo mismo, probablemente por Amazon Kindle, o independientemente, para no estar limitado creativamente por nada ni nadie. Si bien claro que me encantaría que éste sea un proyecto exitoso y reconocido, mi único compromiso es con la integridad artística de la misma, y con el placer que me produce escribir. Nada más, ni nada menos.
